CAMBRIDGE, MA -- There is a growing interest by corporate America in purchasing "green" IT according to a recent report by Forrester Research.

Forrester surveyed 124 operations and procurement professionals in North America and Europe for the study.  Among its findings:

  • 85% said that environmental factors are important in planning IT operations, but only 25% have written green criteria into purchasing processes
  • Only 15% of respondents had an awareness of their vendor's green initiatives.

  • In-depth interviews of 24 IT professionals indicated that they have a hard-nosed view of green IT:  they will only move to green purchases if it saves them money.
